Vice Chairperson
Shawna Dietrich grew up in Houston, Texas, “on the back of a horse.” When her family moved to Kentucky, she started showing hunters and jumpers in the Midwest, graduating into teaching and training on a professional level. Personal events led to a change of direction, and into the business world of equine insurance. Dietrich & Company Equine Insurance was founded in 1978 at a time when there were not many horse savvy individuals representing equine related insurances. Shawna has held USEF judges and stewards licenses, has served two terms as their Zone 5 Chairman, and has been member of their Horse Welfare Committee. Additionally, she has served on the Board of the Kentucky Hunter-Jumper Association and as Treasurer for the Long Run Hounds of Kentucky. Shawna had been visiting Aiken over the past several years and decided the area was a special place to enjoy the many horse sports and to get out of the northern winters. In 2015 she moved with her photographer husband, Bruce, to Hopeland Farms, where she continues her insurance duties, operates Fox Hill Farm, which caters to the special needs of retired show hunters and jumpers, and enjoys foxhunting and eventing.
